Yesterday’s 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony ended in a major upset as the prestigious award went not to Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior, but to Manchester City’s central midfielder Rodri. Here’s how Real Madrid reacted.
Details: Vinícius Júnior posted a short, pointed message on his X account, declaring his determination to repeat his efforts ten more times if necessary.
“I’ll do it 10 times if needed. They’re not ready,” wrote the Brazilian.
His teammate Rodrygo responded with “BIG7,” while on Instagram he added, “And so our world goes on… we keep living. Love you.”
Left-back Ferland Mendy echoed this sentiment, calling Vinícius the “best player in the world, brother.” Federico Valverde also voiced his support, saying, “Love you, brother.”
Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin added a story featuring a photo with Vinícius, overlaying a golden medal on his teammate.
Notably, Real Madrid’s official social media channels, including X, were silent about the ceremony—even though Carlo Ancelotti was named Coach of the Year and the club itself was awarded Best Club.
