They demanded a foul. A Man City player brought down a Real defender before the goal
Manchester City travelled to Madrid for their UEFA Champions League clash with Real, and midway through the first half another controversial episode unfolded.
Details: The incident occurred just before City scored. During a corner delivery, Rüdiger was battling with a Manchester City player and both went to the ground. Moments later, the visitors found the net. Real’s players appealed to the referee for a foul, but the goal stood.
For the record, in the third minute a Manchester City defender fouled Vinícius, and the referee initially pointed to the spot, giving the hosts a penalty. But after a VAR review, the decision was overturned.
Reminder: Real winger Vinícius fired a low cross from the flank into the heart of the penalty area, but the ball was blocked by a Manchester City defender and struck his arm.
