On Wednesday, December 10, Real Madrid are hosting Manchester City in their UEFA Champions League Matchday 6 encounter, and the officials again had a difficult call to make early in the game.

Details: Real winger Vinícius fired a low cross from the flank into the heart of the penalty area, but the ball was blocked by a Manchester City defender and struck his arm. However, the arm was positioned close to the body, so the referees ignored the incident and awarded a corner.

For the record, in the third minute a Manchester City defender fouled Vinícius, and the referee initially pointed to the spot, giving the hosts a penalty. But after a VAR review, the decision was overturned.

Reminder: Real Madrid are going through a difficult period, and rumours suggest Xabi Alonso’s position may be under threat. Guardiola was asked to share his thoughts on his former colleague.
