"They are catastrophic". Mbappe has spoken out about France's parliamentary elections
During a press conference ahead of the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Portugal, French star Kylian Mbappe addressed the topic of parliamentary elections in his country.
"We cannot leave our country in the hands of these people; it's really urgent. We've seen the results of the first round – they are catastrophic. We sincerely hope that everything will change and that everyone will come together to vote, and vote for the right side," Mbappe stated.
In the first round of parliamentary elections in France, the far-right party "National Rally" led by Marine Le Pen emerged victorious with 33.15% of the votes. Meanwhile, the coalition of parties supporting incumbent President Emmanuel Macron's "Renewal" garnered 20.76% of the votes.
It's worth noting that Mbappe maintains friendly relations with Macron. The French President is credited with playing a pivotal role in Mbappe's contract extension with PSG in the summer of 2022. Macron also attended Mbappe's farewell party marking his departure from the club.
