There will be no more fashion show! Zidane introduces new rules for France players
France’s new head coach Zinedine Zidane has started his tenure by tightening the rules for the national team’s players. According to RMC Sport, the coach has banned media representatives and photographers from being present on Clairefontaine’s main esplanade when players arrive for training camp.
That brings an end to a tradition dubbed the “blue carpet” by the French press. Kylian Mbappé, Jules Koundé, Ibrahima Konaté and Michael Olise regularly appeared in front of the cameras wearing eye-catching designer outfits and expensive accessories. The players must now arrive in official French Football Federation attire or understated travel clothing.
Zidane wants the team’s focus to be on football and match preparation from the very first minutes of camp. According to TNT Sports and Infobae, the coaching staff also plans to restrict mobile phone use in common areas and introduce stricter nutrition and recovery protocols.
France’s next camp will take place under the new rules. Photographers will not be allowed to film the team’s stars arriving, and Clairefontaine will no longer serve as a stage for players to showcase their eye-catching looks.
