It is reported that Iranian authorities are refusing outright to send the team to the United States, even though they've already qualified for the World Cup. However, they still want to see their team compete on the world stage and are therefore offering FIFA an alternative solution.
Previously, the president of Iran's sports federation stated that the national team's trip to the US was out of the question, while US President Donald Trump publicly declared that if Iranian players visited the US, it would pose a threat to their health and lives in general.
FIFA's verdict on the situation remains unknown.
Reminder: Plans have changed? Iran officially responds to Trump’s threats regarding the safety of their national team at the World Cup in the USA
