Plans have changed? Iran officially responds to Trump’s threats regarding the safety of their national team at the World Cup in the USA

Donald Trump has received a response from the Iranian Football Federation following his threats directed at the Iranian national football team.

Details: The Iranian Football Federation's committee today published a statement addressed to the current US President Donald Trump after he openly declared that Iran's national team should not travel to the USA for the World Cup, as it could pose a threat to their safety and even their lives.

Iran stated that Trump has no right to decide who can attend the World Cup, as it is a historic tournament held under the auspices of FIFA, not Trump’s administration:

"The World Cup is a historic and international event, governed by FIFA and not by any individual or country.

The Iranian national team, thanks to its strength and a series of decisive victories achieved by the brave sons of Iran, was among the first teams to qualify for this major tournament.

Certainly, no one can exclude Iran from the World Cup; the only country that could potentially be excluded is the one that merely holds the title of 'host' but is unable to guarantee the safety of the teams participating in this global event." the statement from the Iranian authorities reads.

At this point, FIFA has not issued an official position on the matter, but if the issue is not resolved peacefully, FIFA will have to ensure a fair replacement for the Iranian national team, which has already booked its place at the World Cup and been drawn into Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand.

Reminder: Boycott from another national team! Iraq will not go to the World Cup in the USA, even if they qualify for the tournament
