Themba Zwane is a happy man.

The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is in a jubilant mood following his team’s victory over MC Alger to progress to Caf Champions League quarterfinals.

Zwane made his return to the Miguel Cardoso side after a lengthy injury which kept him out of the team and he was handed the captain’s armband as he made fine touches against the North Africans.

The build up to the game at Loftus Versveld was not without controversy as Sundowns suspended their performance analyst Mario Masha, after alleging he sent the club’s tactical plans to Rulani Mokwena.

Mokwena is in charge of MC Alger having coached Sundowns before.

“Obviously, it was difficult, there was lot of talk but for us we knew our job is to focus on the game and stay as a team,” he told the club’s media team.

“Brotherhood – we communicate, try to motivate one another and thanks to our Chairman Thlopie Motsepe who played a big role this week because he was busy motivating us. Those talks, positive talks it really helped us going to the game.

“We knew that they will try to sit back, press high first half that’s why we were fighting for the first early goal and that’s what we did.

“We put more pressure on them. We knew they were gonna make some mistakes but give credit to Leon Brayan Muniz for the follow up and always being there in the box.”
