The WTA eighth-ranked player will miss the Aus Open
Czech tennis player Karolína Muchová announced that she will not be able to take part in the first Grand Slam tournament in 2024 - the Australian Open. She wrote about it on her instagram page. The main reason has to do with a wrist problem.
"This isn’t my favourite thing to share especially at the start of a new season, but unfortunately the pain in a wrist came back in the middle of my tennis preparation.
I therefore have to postpone the start of the season and fully heal my wrist first. It’s frustrating but I have to keep positive, recover and get ready for the rest of the year. See you in 2025at the Australian Open," Muchová wrote.
The tennis player's exact timeline is unknown. Most likely, the Czech will return to the court after a series of Australian tournaments, which includes not only the Australian Open.
Karolína Muchová is currently ranked eighth in the WTA rankings. At Grand Slam tournaments, Muchová's greatest achievement was reaching the final at the French Open in 2023. In Melbourne 2021, Muchová reached the semi-finals, her highest achievement on Australian courts.
Earlier, we reported that the prize money for the Australian Open was up 13 per cent.
