The experienced forward admitted that he is now focused on getting the most enjoyment possible from every remaining appearance on the pitch.

The striker shared his thoughts on an imminent retirement from top-level football on the eve of his 40th birthday. According to the player, the physical demands are becoming increasingly difficult, making retirement in the summer of 2027 the logical step, although the Frenchman left a tiny door open by saying it is only highly likely to happen.

After a spell in Major League Soccer with Los Angeles FC, the veteran star returned home to Lille to give the local fans one final European season. At the club known as Les Dogues, the forward not only continues to feature regularly in attack but also serves as the primary mentor for the emerging young players.

It is worth noting that Olivier Giroud is the all-time leading scorer for the France national team, with 57 goals in 137 appearances. With Les Bleus, the striker became a 2018 world champion and a 2022 World Cup runner-up, while at club level he won the Champions League and Europa League with Chelsea, lifted the Serie A title with Milan and sensationally claimed the Ligue 1 crown with Montpellier.
