The World Boxing Association (WBA) has sanctioned the upcoming bout for the undisputed world champion in the super bantamweight division, Naoya Inoue (27-0, 24 KOs).

His opponent is set to be the former world champion Muradjon Akhmadaliev (12-1, 9 KOs).

Both parties must finalize the deal and confirm the bout no later than July 14. If an agreement is not reached, promotional bids will be announced.

In early May, Inoue successfully defended his title for the first time, defeating Luis Nery of Mexico. In the second round, Nery went down but managed to continue the fight. However, Inoue dominated the match thereafter.

In the fifth round, Nery was knocked down again, and in the sixth, the Japanese fighter sent his opponent to the canvas for the third time, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
