The Uruguayan defender of Barcelona may miss four months
During the quarterfinals of Copa America 2024, Uruguayan defender Ronald Araújo sustained an injury and may miss more time than initially expected.
According to Sport, Araújo will return on Monday for an evaluation. However, the defender might not recover with just rest, rehabilitation, and recovery. Everything will be determined after the examination, and he may require surgery. If that is the case, Araújo could be sidelined for at least four months.
Additionally, Barcelona might face other issues with Araújo. FIFA may investigate an incident involving a fight between Uruguayan players and Colombian fans following the semifinals. If Araújo is found guilty, he could face a suspension, meaning he would miss matches regardless.
Currently, the brawl incident is under investigation by CONMEBOL. If they issue a final decision, Araújo would be banned from national team duties
