The top African national team will bid farewell to its head coach
Cameroon's national team will be without a head coach as the contract with the coach of the Indomitable Lions, Rigobert Song, will not be renewed.
This was announced by the president of the local Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o, in an interview with France 24. The decision is attributed to the team's unsatisfactory results.
“He has brought a lot to this team but the laws of football being what they are… We have not achieved our objectives, and our executive committee and I do not see ourselves renewing the contract. I had the opportunity to discuss it with him. I gave our positions and now we have to think about the future, while wishing him every success in his future career." said Eto'o.
Song has been in charge of the Cameroon national team since February 2022. Under his leadership, Cameroon qualified for the World Cup but failed to advance from the group stage.
In the Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon's campaign ended in the round of 16 with a 0:2 loss to Nigeria.
