Former left-back of Atlético Madrid and Chelsea, Filipe Luís, has embarked on a significant new chapter in his life.
Details: Filipe Luís has officially been appointed as the new head coach of one of Brazil's most decorated clubs, Flamengo. This marks his first experience in a managerial role at the senior level.
In this position, Filipe Luís takes over from former Brazil national team coach Tite, who was dismissed following a shocking exit in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores against Uruguayan club Peñarol.
Flamengo is also far from the championship race in Brazil's Série A, currently sitting in fourth place, nine points behind the league leaders.
Previously, Filipe Luís served as head coach for Flamengo's U-20 and U-17 teams.
Reminder: As a player, Filipe Luís made 333 appearances for Atlético Madrid and concluded his career at Flamengo.
In the summer of 2025, Flamengo will play in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup.
