The European Championship 2024 has yet to begin, but the Spanish national team has decided to extend the contract with head coach Luis de la Fuente.

According to Marca, the new contract for the specialist will be valid until the summer of 2026, ensuring he will lead Spain in the World Cup. His current contract was set to expire on June 30, 2024. Additionally, there will be some changes in the coaching staff.

Luis de la Fuente took charge of the national team in December 2022 and led Spain to victory in the 2023 UEFA Nations League, marking their first title in 11 years.

De la Fuente also successfully guided the team through the qualification for the 2024 European Championship. Spain finished first in their qualifying group, amassing 21 points in eight matches.

On June 14, one of the most significant events in international football will begin - in Germany, 24 national teams will start competing for the title of the strongest nation in Europe at UEFA Euro 2024.
