João Cancelo has finally found a permanent home in the heart of Catalonia.

Details: Portuguese full-back João Cancelo and the management of FC Barcelona have reached a definitive agreement for the player's permanent transfer. The 32-year-old is moving from Saudi club Al Hilal and has signed a contract with the Blaugrana for three seasons, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2029.

This marks Cancelo's third stint with the Catalans. He previously played for Barcelona on loan from Manchester City during the 2023/24 season, before signing with Al Hilal in August 2024. In January 2026, the defender returned to Catalonia for a half-year loan, where he became a key element in Hansi Flick's tactical setup. Now, all formalities have been settled, sealing a full-fledged long-term partnership.

It's worth noting that in the second half of the 2025/26 season, the Portuguese defender played 16 matches in La Liga for Barcelona, netting 2 goals and helping the team clinch the Spanish championship title.
