World No. 1 Iga Świątek will miss the WTA 500 grass-court tournament in Berlin. The Polish tennis star has decided to withdraw from the competition.

The 2024 Roland Garros champion cited physical and psychological fatigue as the reason for her decision.

"Due to overall physical and mental exhaustion after an intense nine weeks, unfortunately, I need to withdraw from the tournament in Berlin. This is necessary for me to rest and recover," Świątek said, as quoted by Ecotrans Ladies Open.

During the clay season, Iga won 21 out of 22 matches, claiming titles in Madrid, Rome, and Roland Garros.

In the final match, Świątek defeated Italy's Jasmine Paolini in straight sets. For her victory at Roland Garros, the Polish player earned €2,400,000.

Iga has won four titles on the Parisian courts (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024). This was her 21st consecutive victory at Roland Garros, where she has played 37 matches, losing only two.

The tournament in Berlin will take place from 17 to 23 June.
