The renowned defender has decided to end his career in the Netherlands national team
Experienced Girona defender Daley Blind has decided to retire from the Netherlands national team, as he announced on Instagram.
"It has been a tremendous honor to wear the national team jersey 108 times. Representing my country is the highest achievement for me as a player. For eleven years, I gave my all to continue wearing this beautiful Oranje shirt. It has given me so much, so many wonderful moments. I cherish them," Blind wrote.
"A new, talented generation is coming up, and after a good conversation with the national coach, it’s time to fully focus on my club and my family. Once again, it has been a great honor! These have been amazing years, and I want to thank the national coaches, staff, teammates, and of course, the Oranje Legion! I will miss it and all of you. Thank you all," he added.
Blind made 108 appearances for the Netherlands, scoring 3 goals and providing 15 assists. He was part of the Dutch team that won the bronze medal at the 2014 World Cup and reached the semifinals of Euro 2024.
Earlier we reported that the legendary Croatian midfielder has also ended his international career.
