“The release of the Senegalese fans is a priority for us,” says Patrice Motsepe
The Confederation of African Football acknowledges its share of responsibility.
The situation of the Senegalese supporters imprisoned in Morocco since the Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat continues to provoke reactions in Dakar. On an official visit to Senegal, the CAF president was inevitably asked questions regarding these 18 supporters. But Patrice Motsepe affirmed the commitment of African football’s governing body to resolving this sensitive matter.
The release of the Senegalese supporters is a priority for us. The Senegalese people must know that this situation is of the utmost concern to us. We respect the sovereignty of both Senegal and Morocco. I fully agree with you when you say that these people were arrested in a stadium, during a competition that we organised, so it is also our responsibility.
