At the 2024 Olympic Games, the long jump qualification event took place, not without its surprises.

The reigning world champion, Ivana Španović from Serbia, failed to qualify for the final of the Olympic long jump event. She managed a jump of only 6.51 meters, falling short of the required 6.59 meters.

It is worth noting that in 2023, at the World Championships in Budapest, the Serbian long jumper achieved a remarkable 7.14 meters, earning her the title of world champion.

Since the 2013 World Championships, Španović has won 12 medals at major championships. She has set 30 national records among adults: 12 in outdoor events (all in long jump) and 18 indoors (16 in long jump, one in the 60 meters, and one in the pentathlon).

Additionally, on Monday, August 5th, the world-ranked leader in pole-vaulting also failed to qualify for the Olympics.
