Football referee, Halil Umut Meler, who had been attacked after the national championship match between Ankaragucu and Rizespor (1:1), thought about his future.

It is reasonable to mention that the president of the hosts, Farouk Koca, attacked him with fists after the final whistle.

After some time, the referee admitted that he accepted the option of ending his career after the incident, as reported on the A Spor page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

He made this confession when one of the football officials came to him in the hospital. In a conversation with him, the referee said that he would no longer officiate football matches. Additionally, he also said the words: "That’s enough for me."

As previously written, Koca and three other participants went to jail. They were arrested on charges of causing bodily harm to a public servant. At the same time, the president of Ankaragucu does not agree with the accusations brought against him.
