Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who ruptured his patellar tendon last September, may recover faster than initially expected thanks to a new treatment method. This was reported by Sport.es.

According to the source, the German shot-stopper could return to training as early as April or May, with no risk of injury recurrence. Ter Stegen is undergoing a stem cell treatment, which costs €13,000.

It’s worth noting that, due to the injury to their main goalkeeper, Barcelona signed Polish keeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who has yet to make his debut for the Catalans. Meanwhile, the team’s goal has been in the capable hands of ter Stegen’s deputy, Iñaki Peña.

Ter Stegen’s contract with the club runs until the summer of 2028. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is currently estimated at €20 million.
