On March 23rd, an international friendly match took place in Lyon between the national teams of France and Germany. Right from the start, the game lived up to the fans' expectations.

The guests barely had time to play the ball from the center of the field when the score was already opened. Florian Wirtz scored a goal on the eighth second of the match. The Bayer midfielder received a pass from Toni Kroos, who returned to the national team after a break, and drove the ball into the net with a long-range shot past the helpless Brice Samba. Kylian Mbappé and Marcus Thuram missed good opportunities to equalize before halftime, but the French went into the break trailing in the score.

Early in the second half, from Jamal Musiala's pass, Kai Havertz doubled the German national team's lead. Deschamps tried to freshen up the game with substitutions, but the French team couldn't respond with a goal of their own.

France 0-2 Germany
Goals: Wirtz 1', Havertz 49'.
