This year's African Cup of Nations (AFCON) has already become the most goals scored in its history, as reported by ESPN.

The tournament is currently in full swing, having just concluded the Round of 16, and the quarterfinal stage is set to begin. However, a total of 105 goals have already been scored in the African Cup of Nations, making it the highest-scoring tournament in history.

Prior to this, the record for the highest number of goals in a single edition was set in 2019, with a total of 102 goals scored throughout the tournament.

It's worth noting that the statistical portal WhoScored has named its version of the best team from the Round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations. According to WhoScored, the highest rating was given to Angola's forward, Zelson Dala, with a score of 9.94. In the top three best players of the week are Dala's teammate Mabululu (8.34) and Nigerian defender Calvin Bessie (8.36).

The quarterfinal matches of the African Cup of Nations will take place on February 2nd and 3rd. Nigeria will face Angola, Guinea will play against DR Congo, Mali will compete with Ivory Coast, and Cape Verde will take on South Africa.
