The PSV forward broke another major record in Dutch football. What did the striker do?

In the fourth round of the Dutch Eredivisie, PSV hosted Go Ahead Eagles and secured a commanding 3-0 victory.

Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong provided two assists in the match, entering Dutch football history. He has become the top scorer in Eredivisie history for the goal + assist tally in the 21st century, with 179 goals and 79 assists in 258 matches. This surpasses Dusan Tadić's record of 119 goals and 137 assists in 256 games.

Additionally, Luuk de Jong has become PSV’s all-time leading scorer in the Champions League, having netted nine goals in 23 matches. He surpassed Ruud van Nistelrooy, who scored eight goals in 11 matches.

Currently, PSV sits at the top of the Eredivisie table with 12 points from four matches. The Eindhoven side has scored 18 goals and conceded only three.

It is worth noting that PSV are the reigning Dutch champions. Last season, the team won their 25th title in history, placing them second for most championships in Eredivisie history, behind only Ajax with 36.
