The President of Galatasaray has confirmed the club's intent to sign Barcelona's star player
Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has confirmed the club's desire to sign Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gündogan.
“We need to sign about three players to compete in the Champions League. Perhaps it is time to try and complete the signing of my dream player: Ilkay Gündogan,” Mundo Deportivo quotes the executive.
Gündogan joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City last summer. Despite a challenging season for Barcelona, the midfielder performed at a high individual level.
The German midfielder is also expected to be a crucial player for Hansi Flick, who has previously worked with the 33-year-old.
Galatasaray were crowned champions of Turkey in 2024, while Barcelona finished second in La Liga. The Catalan club recently announced the appointment of a new head coach.
