The president of Atletico Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, evasively commented on the interest in Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

"It is my belief that Julian Alvarez is a player of Manchester City, and I do not foresee his departure from there," quoted Cerezo by Fabrizio Romano.

It was reported that Atletico is aiming to persuade the player to leave by involving their own footballers, Angel Correa and Rodrigo de Paul, who will spend a month with Alvarez in the Argentine national team during the Copa America. They will convey to the forward that he is awaited in Madrid.

In addition to Atletico, Chelsea and PSG are also contenders for Alvarez, with the latter seeking a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.

Alvarez himself is open to leaving Manchester City. The Argentine striker is dissatisfied with the amount of playing time he receives at the club. Alvarez faces tough competition from Erling Haaland, the top scorer in the Premier League.

In the concluded season, the Argentine played 54 matches, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists.
