Newcastle confirmed that defender Jamaal Lascelles will miss the remainder of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Englishman sustained the injury in yesterday's match against West Ham (4:3).

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe initially expressed uncertainty about the severity of the situation after the game. However, the club has now confirmed that Lascelles has damaged the cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be sidelined for six to nine months.

The defender fell on the pitch early in the match against West Ham and attempted to continue playing but eventually had to leave the field after a few minutes.

In the current season, the 30-year-old player has featured in 26 matches for Newcastle across all competitions, scoring one goal. He has played a total of 1922 minutes on the field.

Earlier, Newcastle suffered another long-term defensive setback as Sven Botman suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and could be sidelined for up to nine months.
