Inter's head coach, Simone Inzaghi, shared his thoughts on the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg match against Atletico Madrid.

According to the coach, they are currently disappointed alongside the entire Inter family. However, they should take pride in what the club has achieved in this season's Champions League.

"We should be proud of what we have accomplished in this Champions League. We should have played better in the second half. We had more energy in extra time, but unfortunately, we made too many mistakes," said Simone Inzaghi.

He emphasized that after Darmian's goal, everything was in the hands of the Italian team. However, due to a quick response goal, Atletico managed to regain confidence. Inter should have been more confident at this stage of the match and better maintained their lead and performance.

"We are disappointed because after Darmian's goal, we were leading 2-0 on aggregate, and at that moment, we should have defended better. We all understand that small details can matter at this level, and anything can happen.

However, I can't say much to my players; they should take pride in what they have done," added Inter's head coach.

As a reminder, the regular time of the Round of 16 second-leg match between Atletico Madrid and Inter ended with a score of 2-1. The teams played two extra periods of 15 minutes each but failed to determine a winner, leading to a penalty shootout. "Los Rojiblancos" capitalized better on their attempts during the penalty shootout, and their goalkeeper Jan Oblak saved two shots from "Nerazzurri." Atletico won with a score of 3-1 in penalties and advanced to the quarter-finals.
