In the 32nd round of the English Premier League, Newcastle United hosted Tottenham Hotspur at their home ground. Despite the teams being close in the league table, the hosts managed to defeat the visitors by scoring four unanswered goals.

Fabian Schär and Anthony Gordon each scored a goal, while Swedish forward Alexander Isak secured a brace. Thanks to his goals in this match, Isak became the first Newcastle United player since the 2003/2004 season to score more than twenty goals in a single season. The Swede scored 17 goals in the Premier League, 2 in the FA Cup, and one each in the Carabao Cup and the UEFA Champions League. The last Newcastle player to achieve this feat was the legendary Alan Shearer, who is also the all-time leading scorer in Premier League history.

Interestingly, this defeat marked the largest margin of defeat for Tottenham under the management of their coach, Ange Postecoglou. Previously, Tottenham had not lost by a margin of four goals under his leadership.
