The NBA champions are up for sale. It is known who might be interested in purchasing the team
The reigning NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, are up for sale, and a potential buyer has been identified.
According to Bill Simmons, Jeff Bezos, the founder and owner of Amazon, is a possible candidate to purchase the Boston Celtics. He is mentioned in league circles as a serious contender.
Should he decide to buy the team, Bezos would need to pay around $6 billion, approximately $2 billion more than what Matt Ishbia paid for the Phoenix Suns. The current owner of the Celtics, Wyc Grousbeck, acquired the franchise in the 2002/03 season for a then-record $360 million.
Bezos is the founder and owner of Amazon, the largest retail network in the world, with an estimated net worth of around $195 billion. He had previously shown interest in acquiring the NFL’s Washington Commanders and has been mentioned as a potential buyer for the Seattle Seahawks.
Additionally, LeBron James could become a co-owner of the 18-time NBA champions.
