The triathlon events at the 2024 Olympic Games, held in the Seine River, have concluded. These events were postponed several times due to water pollution concerns.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo stated that none of the athletes who participated in the triathlon events fell ill due to swimming in the Seine.

"There is no athlete who fell ill because of swimming in the Seine or who withdrew from the competition after swimming in the Seine. These are fake news, and this has been proven. Furthermore, the Olympic committees themselves have established the truth. So let's stop spreading these fake news stories, which destroy all trust between people and the connection between everyone," she said.

Previously, there was information that the Belgian team withdrew from the mixed relay triathlon at the 2024 Olympics because one of the participants had a stomach ache. Later, the athlete stated on her Instagram that she had contracted a viral illness.

Additionally, according to Le Figaro, silver medalist in the individual triathlon at the Paris Olympics, Hayden Wilde, fell ill with symptoms of E. coli infection.

Furthermore, a representative of the Paraguayan swimming team was excluded from the official athletes' village after her competitions had concluded.
