The match between Finland and Canada women’s national teams at the 2026 Olympics has been postponed. what’s the reason?
On Thursday, February 5, a women’s ice hockey match between Finland and Canada was due to take place at the 2026 Olympic Games, but it has been postponed.
Details: The International Olympic Committee reported that four players from the Finnish national team have contracted norovirus. The affected players and their roommates have self-isolated in the Olympic Village.
Quote: “The decision was taken following consultations with medical professionals after cases of norovirus were identified within the Finnish team. It was made collectively and in line with established health and safety principles, prioritising the health and well-being of players, team staff, officials, and all tournament participants,” the IOC said in a statement.
The match will now take place a week later, on February 12, with face-off scheduled for 14:30 CET. Canada are the reigning Olympic champions.
Reminder: Norway’s Olympic hopes were thrown into doubt following an incident during the team’s first training session in Bormio. Twenty-five-year-old Norwegian alpine skier Fredrik Møller suffered a serious setback during his run.
