A few days ago, Olympic participant Rebecca Cheptegei died after a man doused her in gasoline and set her on fire. The man's story also ended tragically.

Details: According to Nation Africa, the man sustained burns during the incident. He was taken to the hospital with injuries and passed away on Monday, September 9. Rebecca Cheptegei died from her burns on September 5.

Police report that the incident occurred at Rebecca's home during an argument between her and her boyfriend, Dixon, over a piece of land. He poured gasoline on her and ignited it. The athlete suffered 75% burns.

Quote: "There was a commotion as the couple argued near their home. During the argument, the boyfriend was seen dousing the woman with a liquid before setting her alight. The suspect also caught fire and sustained severe burns," said Police Chief Jeremiah Ole Koyom.

Reminder: At the 2024 Olympic Games, Rebecca Cheptegei finished 44th with a time of 2:32:14 in the final, which was her best season time for 2024.
