The magic is back! 46-year-old Ronaldinho comes out of retirement for one last dance
Football is about to witness one of the most romantic comebacks in its history.
Details: According to Italian Football TV, 46-year-old Ronaldinho is coming out of retirement for one more match. The Brazilian legend will play for Serie C side Ravenna, where he is also a shareholder. Club president Ignazio Cipriani said Ronaldinho will play one game in the hope of scoring the final goal of his career with them, with the match expected this Monday.
Ronaldinho signed for Ravenna back in June at a spectacular presentation in Miami, becoming a minority owner of the club run by Cipriani, the entrepreneur behind the famous restaurant and hotel brand. The Giallorossi, who finished third in their Serie C group last season, open the new campaign on Monday away at Reggiana, although reports from Italy caution that the legend's involvement on the night is not yet guaranteed and his exact playing time remains unclear.
The 2002 World Cup winner and 2005 Ballon d'Or recipient last played professionally in 2015 for Fluminense, and this will be his second chapter in Italy after his memorable spell at AC Milan from 2008 to 2011. It's worth noting that Ravenna, founded back in 1913, play at the modest 12,000-seater Stadio Bruno Benelli, which is about to host the most famous footballer in its history.
Reminder: Official! Milan sign winger in deal worth up to €66m.
