In the Premier League, there are still three contenders for the championship: Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City, all sitting at the top of the league table.

But in the last round, the Merseysiders and the Gunners missed out on points. First, Jurgen Klopp's team lost minimally to Crystal Palace (0:1), and after that Arsenal lost to Aston Villa (0:2). It is noteworthy that both teams lost at their stadium.

Now, one of the key defenders of the team, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has stated that his team is to blame for Arsenal's defeat. While speaking to Sky Sports, he mentioned that the Gunners felt overly confident.

"If these matches had been reversed, and we were playing second and Arsenal first, perhaps it would have been a different approach. It all boils down to that. I think our result played a part in Arsenal's outcome. They were potentially too excited and thought, 'This is our chance, this is what we need to do.'"

Due to Arsenal's and Liverpool's defeats in the previous round, Manchester City managed to climb to the top of the league table. With only five rounds left in the season, the battle is becoming increasingly intense.

It's worth noting that all three teams can now fully focus on the domestic championship, as they all suffered setbacks in the European competitions this week. Arsenal was eliminated from the Champions League by Bayern Munich, Manchester City by Real Madrid, and Liverpool lost to Atalanta in the Europa League.
