The legend returns! World champion officially takes charge of Serie A club

The Crusaders' management quickly appointed a new head coach following the unexpected departure of their previous manager.

Details: Italian side Parma have officially announced the appointment of 44-year-old Alberto Gilardino as the team's new head coach. The contract with the former Italy striker runs until June 2027 and includes a club option to extend it unilaterally for another season.

At the helm of the Yellow and Blues, the 2006 world champion succeeds 31-year-old Spaniard Carlos Cuesta, who left the position by mutual consent after a year in charge. The Crusaders' management agreed terms with Gilardino within a matter of days, after which the parties finalized the deal.

For Gilardino, this marks a memorable return to Stadio Ennio Tardini, where he enjoyed one of the finest spells of his playing career. Before moving to Parma, the Italian coach successfully managed Genoa, earning a reputation as a tactically flexible coach capable of delivering results and developing teams in the top flight.

It is worth noting that, as a player, Alberto Gilardino represented Parma from 2002 to 2005, scoring 56 goals in 116 official matches. He also made 57 appearances for the Italy national team and scored 19 goals.
