Official: Serie A club sensationally part ways with manager
Parma have decided to part ways with head coach Carlos Cuesta, the club officially announced across its channels. According to Fabrizio Romano, the parties had differing views on the development of the project, transfer policy and the club’s future direction.
Cuesta leaves Parma after a relatively successful first season. The Spanish coach guided the team to 12th place in Serie A, becoming the second-youngest manager in the competition’s history. Parma currently sit 13th in the table, while Cuesta’s final match in charge was a victory over Genoa.
Carlos Cuesta is a Spanish football coach who rose to prominence through his work on Arsenal’s coaching staff. At the London club, he served as Mikel Arteta’s assistant and was regarded as one of the young coaches gradually gaining experience at the highest level.
In the summer of 2025, Cuesta took charge of Parma, marking an important step in his career as a head coach. His appointment was a notable event in Italian football due to the coach’s age and his experience at Arsenal.
According to Romano, Cuesta turned down several offers from foreign clubs this summer. Now, following his departure from Parma, the Spaniard is open to a new challenge and may consider his options for continuing his career.
