The King of Spain intends to go down to the players' locker room after the Euro 2024 final

King Felipe VI of Spain will attend the UEFA European Championship final between Spain and England this Sunday at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. This will be the King's second visit to the tournament, as he was also present at the match against Italy on the second day of the group stage. Accompanying the King at the match will be Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Spanish Olympic Committee representative Alejandro Blanco, and La Liga representative Javier Tebas. Also attending will be Sports Minister Pilar Alegría, Ambassador to Germany Pascual Navarro, and AFE President David Aganzo.

In the privileged seats in the stadium's box, alongside the King, will be UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and the presidents of the two finalist federations: FA President Debbie Hewitt and RFEF President Pedro Rocha. According to UEFA protocol, federations take precedence over politicians, except for heads of state, which in Spain's case is the King. Therefore, government representatives attending the match will occupy lower-ranking seats, although still quite close to the monarch.

Felipe VI has informed RFEF of his desire to go down to the locker room to thank the players for their efforts and enthusiasm, regardless of the match result. The King has followed the national team's performances with great enthusiasm and watched all the games with excitement. Therefore, he wants to express his gratitude and support to the team, irrespective of the final outcome.
