The injury is more serious. Mikel Arteta gives an update on Mosquera’s condition
Cristian Mosquera sat out the previous match due to an injury he picked up against Brentford. Now Arteta has revealed how long the defender will be sidelined.
Details: At his press conference ahead of the UEFA Champions League match, the Spanish manager confirmed that Mosquera will be out for several weeks. The injury has turned out to be more serious than initially expected.
Quote: “Unfortunately, he’s going to be out for weeks. Sadly, it’s much longer than we anticipated, but the player felt it, so he’ll be out for weeks,” Arteta said.
The Spaniard also confirmed that three key players will not take part — William Saliba, Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard. All of them are unavailable.
The match against Brugge will be played as part of the Champions League’s sixth round on Wednesday, 10 December, with kickoff at 21:00 CET.
Reminder: Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus has fully recovered from injury and is expected to play in the sixth round of the Champions League against Belgian side Brugge.
