The Algerian champions are keeping a close eye on Mokwena.
Details: According to FARPost, 38-year-old South African coach Rulani Mokwena has become the subject of interest from Algerian club MC Alger.
The nine-time Algerian champions are hoping to sign Mokwena, seeing him as a replacement for Khaled Ben Yahia, who left the team after his contract expired.
Ben Yahia had been in charge of the Algerian club since March 2023, leading them to the league title in the 2023/24 season.
Mokwena is not the only candidate for the coaching position; reports say the club is also in contact with another former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi.
However, Mokwena’s move seems more likely, as Mngqithi currently has an active contract with Golden Arrows and does not appear to be planning a departure.
As head coach of Sundowns, Mokwena won three league titles, the inaugural African Football League, and the Nedbank Cup.
