Surprisingly, according to this source, the highest-paid player in the top Spanish division is Barcelona's midfielder, Frenkie de Jong. The Dutchman earns €37.5 million annually as per his contract, and this figure pertains solely to his basic salary. He could potentially earn around €20 million more through various bonuses.
In the second position stands the veteran from Real Madrid, Toni Kroos, earning €24.38 million per season.
Closing the top three is Kroos' teammate David Alaba. The experienced Austrian defender earns €22.5 million per year.
