The head coach of Man Utd was satisfied with his team after the disastrous game with Galatasaray
After the disappointing match against Galatasaray, Manchester United's head coach, Erik ten Hag, expressed his need to both compliment and criticize his team. In an interview with TNT Sports following the game, he acknowledged the team's commendable performance, but didn't shy away from pointing out the lapses.
"We are winning and then we are losing. We should have taken three points. This is the same in more games - home against Galatasaray and away in Copenhagen.
We played so good. So I have to make a compliment to my team but I also have to criticise the team and us as a coaching staff and me as a manager.
We are not defending well enough, we are leading 3-1 and you can't afford such mistakes because it makes a difference.
These mistakes can't happen. In the Champions League you will get punished and we have to learn from that.
You see the style of this team, proactive, dynamic and brave. I was really pleased with the performance," stated ten Hag.
The Dutch coach also affirmed that the club is moving in the right direction.
"Know that we are in a project and we are moving forward, making improvement. We are going in the right direction. I know which steps we need to take," concluded the coach.
It's worth noting that with one round left in the group stage, Manchester United currently occupies the last spot in their quartet but hasn't lost the chance to advance to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
