“The hardest days of my life.” Jesús Owono breaks silence after tragic death of Tenerife striker
Jesús Owono has finally broken his silence about the tragedy that shook Spanish football.
Details: On November 4, FC Andorra published the first statement from goalkeeper Jesús Owono following the tragic death of Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel. The two players collided during their Spanish Segunda División clash on November 2. The striker was hospitalized in critical condition but tragically passed away the following morning at the age of 30. Owono has now spoken publicly about the devastating incident, admitting that he is struggling to come to terms with what happened.
“These are being the most difficult days of my life. It's hard for me to find the words and I find it very difficult to assimilate anything that has happened. I feel enormous pain for the loss of Jesus. I think of him, his family and all the people who loved him. I know that there will be many issues to address, I will face whatever comes with all due respect. But right now, honestly, I can't think of anything other than Jesus and the pain we are experiencing. Rest in peace, Jesus.”
Following the collision, Owono was shown a red card, and the match was abandoned with the score at 2-2. The goalkeeper has also faced online abuse since the incident. FC Andorra, which published his emotional message, has called for the utmost sensitivity and respect during this difficult period.
It is worth noting that UEFA has announced a minute of silence before all European competition matches this week in memory of Jesús de Miguel.
