The French football federation has made a decision on Deschamps' future
After being eliminated from Euro 2024 at the semifinal stage, the French Football Federation made a decision regarding the future of the national team's head coach, Didier Deschamps.
Following brief consultations, it was decided that Deschamps will remain in his position and prepare the French team for the 2026 World Cup.
Deschamps' contract with the French Football Federation extends until the summer of 2026.
At Euro 2024, France finished second in their group, which included Austria, the Netherlands, and Poland. Subsequently, "Les Bleus" defeated Belgium and Portugal in the knockout stages before losing to Spain (1-2) yesterday.
In September, the French team will begin their campaign in the 2024/25 Nations League, where their group stage opponents will be Belgium, Italy, and Israel.
Deschamps has been coaching the French national team since the summer of 2012. Under his leadership, France won the World Cup in 2018 and reached the finals of the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2016.
