The former head coach of the English national team has passed away at the age of 80
Terry Venables was at the helm of the unforgettable performance of the English national team at Euro '96. Gary Lineker regarded him as the best and most innovative coach. The former manager of QPR, Tottenham, and Barcelona passed away at the age of 80.
Aside from the Euro '96 semi-final with the Three Lions, Venables had a highly successful coaching career at Crystal Palace, QPR, Barcelona, and Tottenham.
He also played over 500 matches for Chelsea, Tottenham, QPR, and Crystal Palace as a player.
In a statement from the Venables family:
'We are completely devastated by the loss of our wonderful husband and father, who peacefully passed away yesterday after a long illness.
We kindly ask for privacy at this incredibly sad time so that we can mourn the loss of this wonderful man who we were so lucky to have in our lives.'
Additionally, today's match between Tottenham and Aston Villa began with a minute of silence.
