The first sensational finalist in the Copa del Rey has been determined
On February 27th, the first match of the Copa del Ray semi-final concluded, and the first finalist was determined.
Real Sociedad and Mallorca played their second leg in San Sebastián following a draw in the first match (0-0).
Before halftime, Brais Méndez of the home team missed a penalty kick. In the second half, defender Giovanni González put the visitors ahead. However, Mikel Oyarzabal equalized for Real Sociedad in the 71st minute.
The winner was decided in a penalty shootout, where Mallorca emerged more precise (1-1, pen. 5-4). Mallorca sensationally advanced to the final. This marks the fourth time the team has reached the Copa del Ray final. Mallorca won this trophy only once in the 2002/03 season, while finishing as runners-up in the other two instances.
In the second semi-final on February 29th, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid will play the return leg. In the first leg, the Basques emerged victorious with a 1-0 scoreline.
