FIFA president commented on the massacre after the Trabzonspor v Fenerbahce match

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has issued a statement regarding the events following the Turkish Süper Lig match between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe.

On his Instagram page, he wrote that such events have no place on or off the field. There is no place for them in football or society in general. He also called for an investigation and punishment of all those involved.

"I have said this before and I will say it again - in football, all players without exception must be safe to play the game that brings so much joy to many people around the world.

I urge the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with this requirement at all levels and hold those responsible for the shocking events in Trabzon accountable for their actions," said Infantino.

The incident was also commented on by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkey, Ali Yerlikaya. According to him, after the match, 12 individuals involved in the brawl were apprehended. Legal and administrative proceedings have been initiated against all of them. The investigation into the events is ongoing.

Recall that within the framework of the Turkish Süper Lig, Trabzonspor hosted Fenerbahçe. The visiting team won the high-scoring match (3-2). After the game, Fenerbahçe players remained on the field to celebrate their victory, which angered fans of the home team. Trabzonspor supporters stormed the field and attacked the Fenerbahçe players.

Initially, the players defended themselves against the unruly crowd, but then sought refuge by fleeing to the dressing room from the hooligans, who clearly outnumbered them.
