The Serbian athlete has officially withdrawn from the 2024 Olympic final. Angelina Topić will not compete on Sunday, August 4.
The high jumper announced on Instagram that she will not participate in the final.
"Unfortunately, my performance at these Olympic Games is over. An X-ray revealed a more severe injury, a fracture in the joint of my right leg, and I will not be able to compete in the final on Sunday. I truly believed that, despite everything, I could make it back to the list of participants.
I gave everything to achieve this, but it seems it was not meant to be this time," Topić stated.
It is worth noting that during warm-up before the high jump qualification, Topić caught her foot on the mat and felt pain in her leg. It was evident during her jumps that Topić struggled even with the approach.
