European women's high jump vice-champion risks missing the Olympic final

Serbian high jumper Angelina Topic, considered one of the main contenders for medals, risks missing the final of the competition.

Today, during the high jump qualification, Topic cleared only 1.92 meters, finishing in 12th place, tied with American Vashti Cunningham.

However, during warm-ups before the jumps, Topic caught her foot on the mat and felt pain in her leg. It was evident during her jumps that she struggled even to get a proper run-up.

"I somehow managed to reach 1.92 meters and was watching to see if the other girls would go further. But I don't know if I will participate in the final. Reaching the final was my dream", Topic stated.

At the recent European Championships, Topic secured second place.

Additionally, only Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Australian Nicola Olyslagers cleared 1.92 meters and 1.95 meters on their first attempts.
